When a new employee joins your company, their first day shouldn’t feel like a scavenger hunt for access. Ideally, they should be able to log in and get started right away.
Using ConductorOne for onboarding is often one of the first experiences new employees have with your company. That’s why we’ve focused on making account provisioning fully automated and seamless.
Start with birthright access
It begins with a simple idea: if you’re a new employee, you should get access immediately. The process should be automated, and it should be clear what access you’re entitled to from day one. There should be no delays or confusion.
With ConductorOne Automations, customers can:
- Provision new employees on their hire date
- Automatically create directory and email accounts
- Assign users to dynamic groups based on attributes like department or location
- Grant birthright access using access profiles
Access profiles are central to this process. They bundle the permissions a new hire needs based on their role, eliminating the need to request access one app at a time. ConductorOne delivers everything upfront.
Provisioning without manual work
Provisioning is connector-based. If a connector supports user creation, ConductorOne lets you define how that user should be created. This allows you to automatically generate accounts for new hires based on your data.
Here’s how it works. Say a new employee starts on Friday. If the connector supports user creation, you can preconfigure the setup. Just provide the necessary details—such as display name, start date, and username—and ConductorOne handles the rest.
You can also configure how provisioning works. ConductorOne displays the mappings for review, and you confirm that they match your system. From there, we create the user with the necessary attributes, including user principal name, nickname, account status, and more.
Password delivery made simple
Once the account is created, the user can log in through your identity provider. If you’re not using SSO, we store the password securely. The user retrieves their temporary password from the vault and updates it. Either way, the process is smooth for both IT and the employee.
Before ConductorOne, this entire process was manual. A new hire would join, request access, wait for an account to be created, receive an email, and then piece together what else they needed. Now, access is granted automatically through profiles. There’s no need to chase down app owners. We create the accounts for you.
We also handle IDP bypass and password storage when needed. You define how users should be managed, and we take care of the rest.
The result is faster onboarding, less work for IT, and a better experience for everyone.
